Supporting Communities to Build Capacity, Culture, and Connection

At Whistling Wind Counseling and Therapy Services, we offer a range of training
and consultation services to support communities, agencies, and organizations
in deepening their capacity for trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and
community-based therapeutic care. Whether you’re looking to develop an Action
Therapy™ team, strengthen your clinical approaches, or support youth with more
responsive programming, we are here to walk alongside you.

Action Therapy™ Training Programs

We offer intensive Action Therapy™ Training Programs designed to help communities and agencies develop their own local Action Therapy™ teams.

These programs include:

  • A 5-day immersive training in Winnipeg or on-site in your community
  • Teaching the core principles and pillars of Action Therapy™
  • Integration of Narrative Therapy, land-based practice, and cultural healing
  • Opportunities to meet and learn from experienced Action Therapists
  • Hands-on activities, role-plays, and community-based therapeutic engagement


We also provide follow-up mentorship and clinical supervision to support the growth of new Action Therapists and ensure alignment with the core values of the model.

Workshops and Professional Development


We offer tailored workshops and learning opportunities for front-line workers, educators, clinical teams, and youth. Some of our most  equested offerings include:


Narrative Therapy

  • Externalizing problems and re-authoring identity
  • Responding to trauma through story, metaphor, and community
  • Integrating narrative conversations with cultural and land-based work

Working with Suicidal Thoughts

  • Trauma-informed, community-based responses
  • Strength-focused safety planning and narrative alternatives to risk-only frameworks

Trauma-Informed Practice

  • Exploring the impacts of trauma on the nervous system and relationships
  • Creating safety through relational presence, regulation, and boundaries


Working with 2-Spirit and Gender-Diverse Youth

  • Inclusive, culturally safe approaches to supporting gender diversity
  • Presentations from Action Therapists with lived experience and training in 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy

Land-Based and Cultural Teachings

  • Workshops and teachings grounded in traditional knowledge, seasonal cycles, and relationship with the land
  • Medicine walks, cultural awareness sessions, and guidance from cultural helpers


Youth-Led & Lived Experience Presentations

  • Speaking engagements and presentations by Action Therapists with live experience in addiction recovery, gang exit, CFS systems, and homelessness
  • Tailored sessions for workers, educators, or youth audiences

Ongoing Supervision & Consultation

We provide clinical supervision and program consultation to support
organizations implementing Action Therapy™ or adjacent trauma-informed
models. This includes:

  • One-on-one clinical supervision for therapists and youth workers
  • Group supervision circles and peer learning
  • Case consultations for complex youth
  • Guidance on integrating cultural and land-based practices ethically
  • Organizational support in aligning practice with Action Therapy™ values: Relationship, Community, Social Justice, Land, and Spirit

Consultation packages can be customized based on your team size, location, and
goals.
